Brown EFI
Brown EFI provides a replacement fuel tank sender unit that incorporates an integrated electric fuel pump. This replacement addresses the mechanical fuel pump of the Corvair, which has demonstrated susceptibility to premature failure due to the composition of contemporary fuel blends.
There are two versions available:
High pressure version for EFI applications
Low pressure version for carbureted applications
Caution:
The mechanical fuel pump is driven by the engine. If the engine stalls, the fuel pump ceases to pump additional fuel. However, with an electric fuel pump, regardless of whether the engine is running or not, the electric fuel pump will continue to pump fuel, greatly increasing the potential for fire. To mitigate this issue, you should consider a way to disable the fuel pump operation when the engine is not running. There are a number of ways to do that, monitoring the oil pressure, detecting a crash situation, or an electronic controller. However you decide is up to you, but some strategy should be deployed for safety.
Ted’s company manufactures a diverse range of EFI related parts tailored to accommodate various Corvair models and engine configurations.
