We have discovered this modern update to your Corvair from YouTuber Tools in the Attic. While the instructions are specific to a Toyota Tacoma, they should be relatively straightforward to adapt for a Corvair.
This modification is part of our plans for next Fall, when we intend to replace the factory heating system with heated seats and an electric windshield defogger.

Note:
It appears to be more suitable for “cloth” seats. Placing such a product underneath the vinyl may significantly reduce its efficiency. For those installing custom “cloth” seats, this may be a practical solution. If you still wish to use the product with vinyl seats, you may consider installing it over the vinyl and then using seat covers over it.
