Corvair Daytime Running Lights
Nearly all modern automobiles employ Daytime Running Lights (DRL). To achieve this on your Corvair, it is a rather simple solution.
We employed this solution that brings a DRL system to the Corvair.
This solution features:
Daytime Running Lights (low beams)
Headlamp deactivation while cranking engine
Delay headlamp deactivation
Headlamp switch manual override
The system activates the low beam headlamps whenever the ignition key is in the ON position. However, during engine cranking to start, the system deactivates the headlamps. When the ignition key is turned to the OFF position, the headlamps delay their deactivation for 30 seconds. This feature is advantageous when illuminating the surrounding area while exiting the Corvair.

The wiring diagram was revised on December 31, 2025, to accommodate the installation of two 1N-4007 diodes. These diodes serve as voltage surge protectors, thereby prolonging the operational lifespan of the relays.
